What is the Tiger Team?

We're a group of healthcare associates dedicated to educating the public, promoting awareness, and encouraging registration for organ/tissue donation. Our team includes representatives from:

• All nursing units
• Physicians and surgeons
• Ancillary staff
• Organ and tissue procurement staff from TransLife, Southeast Tissue Alliance, and Medical Eye Bank of Florida

What's our mission?

To increase donor awareness and increase the availability and usage of organs and tissues. We accomplish our mission through education and encourage people to sign donor cards.

What results have the Tiger Team achieved?

• Our donor referrals have steadily increased each year.
• We received the Medical Eye Bank of Florida "Hospital of the Year" award for two years in a row
• We received the Southeast Tissue Alliance (formerly UFTB) "Hospital of the Year" award for 3 years running.
• We have published a Donor Awareness Calendar featuring artwork & poetry of local children for the past 4 years.
• We have given numerous "Patient Assistance Grants" to transplant patients and sponsored several athletes at the US Transplant Games.
• We dedicated our Health First Donor Recognition Quilt in September 2003.
